Humic Acid Removal in Water via UV Activated Sodium Perborate Process

Humic acid (HA) has complex molecular structure and is capable of adsorption, ion exchange, chelation with organic inorganic pollutants in water bodies, worsening quality jeopardizing human health ecological environment. How to effectively remove HA from one the research focuses this paper. In study, UV-activated sodium perborate (SPB) synergistic system (UV/SPB) was established eliminate water. The effects initial concentration, SPB dose, pH value on elimination were determined, main mechanisms synergy degradation explored. outcomes show that ratio by sole UV only 0.5% 1.5%, respectively. removal UV/SPB reached 88.8%, which can more than other systems. Free radical masking experiment proved hydroxyl produced activation active substance for removal. results UV-vis absorption spectrum, absorbance ratio, specific absorbance, excitation–emission matrix spectroscopy verified decompose mineralize HA.
